Terms of Service
Last updated: August 20, 2026
These terms govern your use of Annotate (the Chrome extension and the website at useannotate.com). By using Annotate, you agree to them.
What Annotate is
Annotate lets you highlight, note, bookmark, and summarize web pages, organize them, and share your own notes with friends you choose. Annotate is free to use, with optional Pro features. You need a Google account to sign in.
Your content
You own your annotations. You’re responsible for what you save and share, and you agree not to use Annotate to break the law or infringe others’ rights. When you send a friend your notes on an article, you’re sharing your own notes and summary — not redistributing the publisher’s article. Annotate is not a tool for circumventing paywalls, and shared notes link back to the original source.
Pro & payments
Core annotation is free. Some AI features (currently: a generous number of free AI folder sorts and article summaries) are metered, with an optional Prosubscription for unlimited use. If and when paid Pro is available, we’ll clearly show the price and terms before you pay, you can cancel any time as easily as you subscribed, and we’ll tell you what happens on renewal. Payment is handled on the website, not in the extension.
Acceptable use
- Don’t misuse the service, attempt to break it, or access others’ data.
- Don’t use Annotate to redistribute paywalled content in place of a subscription.
- Don’t upload or share unlawful, harmful, or infringing material.
We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
Availability & disclaimer
Annotate is provided “as is,” without warranties. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we can’t guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. To the extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Deletion & changes
You can delete your account any time from Settings. We may update these terms; continued use means you accept the changes. Questions: matt.james.schmidt@gmail.com.
